The following are recommended vaccines for many of our pulmonary patients. Vaccines help all of us remain healthy and prevent complications associated with viral and bacterial pneumonia as well as the flu. Remember to review all your vaccinations with your provider as there are other vaccines you may benefit from as well.

Why get vaccinated?

Influenza (“flu”) is a contagious disease that spreads around the United States every winter, usually between October and May.

Flu is caused by the influenza virus, and can be spread by coughing, sneezing, and close contact.

Anyone can get flu, but the risk of getting flu is highest among children. Symptoms come on suddenly and may last several days. They can include:

  • fever/chills

  • muscle aches
  • fatigue
  • cough

Escape to the Cape Bike Trek

Last fall, Dr. Michael Flintrop and team of staff raced the Alpha-1 Escape to the Cape Bike Trekin Provincetown, MA. The event lasted three days and went for over 60 miles. Afterwards they had a well deserved dinner.
